Black swan events – rare, serious, and predictable only in hindsight – occur. But too often we ignore the bevy of white swans – common, predictable misfortunes – surrounding us. And if it’s predictable, you can prepare for it.

Preparation reduces calamity to inconvenience. Being ready for trouble is not a negative mindset. I’s a recognition that bad things happen, and we should be mentally equipped for them.
